Latest from the garden trail-cam.
After getting excited about seeing the badger I was really keen to get the camera back out and hopefully see it again.
Unfortunately, the weather and camera had other ideas. I had some real problems with fogging or condensation on the camera.
The overnight temperature was dipping below freezing – which had happened before with no problems – but for some reason the camera was now fogging up.
This is a double problem, because not only are the images all fogged up, but the IR sensors also seemed to be effected, and shots were being missed.
I did some reading up on the interwebs and discovered this is either because of condensation, or an internal problem from water ingress.
I saw that some others had solved their problem using anti fogging spray or rain-away.
Keeping my fingers crossed I applied rain-away I found in the garage to the lens cover, sensors and IR flash.
I don’t know if the problem is resolved permanently, but the next night the camera was working properly again.. huzzzah!
A hedgehog has woken up and we caught him snuffling round the bird table for food, so the next night I left out a few dried meal worms.
So far, no more sign of the hedgehog; but a fox polished off the worms!
Check out the size of the local cat in the first b&w segment, he was actually standing off with me! before bolting..
It’s also becoming apparent that the big silver birch on the path is a hub of activity after dark.
I wonder if anything is living in the roots – the cats certainly seem to think so!
