Automated drone 3D modeling
Drones amaze me – the technology in these consumer units is amazing.
Back in 2015 I took my Phantom2 Vision out to test it’s capability 3D mapping a small section of rough terrain on a local farm.
The drone flies an automated grid pattern, shooting photographs at specific intervals. Back at base, software automatically stiches all the images together and extrudes a 3D render of the grid area.
Ground resolution is reported as 2.4cm/pixel.
